2021 MAITC Summer Workshops

Instead of a week-long event this summer MAITC will be holding 3 single day, in-person events focusing on Dairy (8/12), Aquaculture (8/19) and Wild Blueberries (8/20). Each professional development event for PK – Grade 12 teachers will offer 7 contact hours or .7 CEU's.


School Garden Grown Project

Maine fairs are ramping up for in-person events this summer! School gardens can exhibit their produce, create excitement for students, and build awareness, with cash prizes to benefit the garden program! MSGN is in partnership with Maine Agriculture in the Classroom to provide information on this amazing project with your LOCAL fair!

Maine School Garden Day

Join Maine School Garden Network for our third session of Maine School Garden Days - yes, plural! Our next session will focus on connections between the school garden, taste tests, and Maine's Harvest of the Month program. We'll also receive a tour of the amazing RSU 22 school gardens from garden coordinator Brittany Layman.

Educational Grants Program

In 2021 $60K is earmarked for grants in 5 categories! This support of Maine agriculture education in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 12 is a direct result of the Maine Agricultural Specialty License Plate.

Abby Plummer

Abby Plummer, a fifth-grade teacher at Edna Drinkwater School in Northport has been named the 2021 Maine Agriculture in the Classroom Teacher of the Year.


Agricultural Literacy Curriculum Matrix

The Agricultural Literacy Curriculum Matrix is an online, searchable, and standards-based curriculum map for K-12 teachers and contextualizes national education standards in science, social studies, and nutrition education with relevant instructional resources linked to Common Core Standards.


Maine's first ever agricultural specialty license plate!

$10 from the sale of each set of this colorful plate will be transferred to a special fund for agricultural education programs in Maine administered by the Maine Agriculture in the Classroom Council.
